Idaho LEGO Users Group Board Elections

Board members and the ambassador serve four-year terms.

To provide continuity in leadership, elections are staggered as follows:

  • The President, Secretary, and Ambassador positions are elected during election years coinciding with United States Presidential elections.
  • The two Vice President positions are elected two years later during the midterm election cycle.

Board members may seek reelection in accordance with club bylaws and membership voting procedures.

Elections and Voting Procedures

Board elections are conducted to ensure fair representation and continuity of leadership within ILUG. Elections are held according to the staggered term schedule established by the club.

Nomination Process

  • Any active member in good standing may nominate themselves or another member for an open Board position or the Ambassador at the October meeting preceding an election.
  • Nominations shall be announced prior to the November election meeting, with additional nominations permitted from the floor or through approved electronic communication.
  • Nominees must agree to serve if elected.

Voting Eligibility

  • Voting privileges are limited to active ILUG members in good standing as defined by club membership guidelines.
  • Each eligible member is entitled to one vote per open position.

Election Procedures

  • Elections may be conducted in person, electronically, or through a hybrid process as determined by the Board.
  • Voting shall be conducted by secret ballot whenever practical to encourage fair and impartial participation.
  • Candidates receiving the highest number of votes for each office shall be elected.
  • In the event of a tie, a runoff vote shall be held between the tied candidates.

Assumption of Duties

  • Newly elected Board members shall assume their roles at the beginning of the next year or at a date determined by the Board.
  • Outgoing Board members are encouraged to assist with the transition of responsibilities and records.

Vacancies

  • If a Board or Ambassador position becomes vacant before the end of a term, the Board may appoint an interim member to serve until the next regular election cycle or hold a special election if deemed necessary.

Removal or Resignation

  • A Board member or Ambassador may resign at any time by notifying the Board in writing.
  • A Board member or Ambassador may be removed for misconduct, failure to fulfill responsibilities, or repeated absence from meetings by a majority vote of the remaining Board members and/or membership.
